Description: Responsible for the management of clinical nursing practices and patient care delivery on the assigned unit(s). Role functions include management of human, fiscal, material, support, and systems resources while achieving and maintaining the goals of a unit or department by focusing on daily operations. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and a willingness to take on new challenges while prioritizing associate engagement. Consistently promotes a positive work environment by being visible and available to all levels of staff and customers. Supports associate development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. Accountable for managing a span of control of 55 to 70 headcount. Direct accountability and reporting for one or two cost centers, three if span does not exceed 70. Maintains clinical RN competency on at least one managed unit. Conducts evaluation of productivity and collaborates with finance to forecast revenue and expenses for budget preparation and management. Ensures appropriate staffing plan matches competency with patient acuity. Focuses on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals. Involves associates in decision-making through shared governance structure. Develops and maintains relationships with associates, physicians, and patients. Promotes professional development to improve associate retention. Facilitates change management. Influences others in fostering a healthy work environment. Focuses on personal growth and development through involvement in professional associations and/or advancing education. Begins to develop an understanding of executive presence. Develops, monitors, and responds to a full range of financial, service, and quality indicators in all areas of responsibilities. Maintains compliance with operational procedures and organizational policies for clinical activities and regulatory readiness.
