The MRI Technologist is responsible for producing diagnostic images using MRI technology.
Responsibilities
Review patient's chart and/or physician order to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology.
Select proper imaging coil for study.
Perform imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols.
Work with physicians to optimize MRI sequences to produce the highest quality MRI image.
Administer contrast media following MRI department protocols.
Verify pregnancy status, when appropriate.
Obtain MRI consent documentation when appropriate.
Determine whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
Document diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record.
Perform post-processing techniques to optimize imaging or study.
Draw up sterile contrast media and other solutions following hospital approved infection control guidelines.
Administer emergency care including performing CPR.
Perform MRI safety, screen patients for contraindications (e.g., foreign bodies, medical indications).
Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care.
On call assignments as needed per individual hospital & departmental policy.
Perform daily clerical duties, including use of EMR, PACS, Teletracking System, and other hospital computer systems.
Greet all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
Adhere to policies regarding Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
Maintain MRI Safety Zones at all times.
Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify care accordingly (considering age, culture, language, hearing/visual impairments, etc.), communicating effectively at their level.
Adhere to the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Perform specific daily and monthly quality assurance (QA) tasks.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Uphold HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull at least 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
Qualifications Required:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Certificate of Completion/Degree from an accredited Radiography or MRI program.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
Preferred:
Minimum of one year of MRI experience.
Licenses and Certifications
ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification.
AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (HCP) certification within 60 days of employment.
