You will function as part of a high-performing project team responsible for ensuring organizations throughout the federal government can leverage their data to improve operations and decision-making. Our data scientists shape the future of analytics by identifying new data sources, modeling techniques, and leveraging data effectively. Our employee-owners pride themselves on applying deep analytical rigor and innovative thinking to help clients understand and solve complex resource planning and management problems. This position is based out of Arlington, VA. Responsibilities
Work with organizational stakeholders to define needs and collaborate with analysts at various experience levels to scope projects. Identify internal and external data sources and lead collection efforts from an enterprise perspective. Develop modeling techniques to solve client problems through exploratory analysis and client engagement. Act as a thought leader in analysis methods, communicating results effectively. Prepare documentation such as technical reports, memoranda, and presentations detailing data, techniques, results, insights, and recommendations. Explain and defend work to stakeholders and team members in various settings. Develop proficiency in software applications to solve problems efficiently and transparently. Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and techniques. Train and guide less experienced team members. Lead and deliver projects, including planning, technical oversight, team management, and stakeholder communication. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess model and methodology viability. Review code and technical outputs from junior analysts, providing feedback. Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of quantitative analysis experience (e.g., data engineer, economist, data analyst, etc.). At least 5 years of experience with high-level programming languages such as R, Python, SAS, or Matlab. Experience developing analytic tools and applying descriptive and predictive analytics. Advanced knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Experience with the data management lifecycle: data sourcing, cleansing, normalization, and modeling. Knowledge of unstructured data techniques, including text analysis and clustering. At least 4 years of experience creating professional visualizations with tools like Tableau or Power BI. Advanced MS Excel skills; VBA experience is a plus. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to independently manage technical interactions and customer relationships. Interest in earning industry-recognized certifications. Additional Qualifications Experience in management consulting. Proficiency with git tools and collaborative platforms like GitHub or GitLab. Experience processing and cleaning data with R or Python. Applied knowledge of machine learning classification techniques. Experience with VBA in Excel and Access.
