Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Nurse educator is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising academic and continuing education programs for HHA, PCA and Nursing Staff. These include Home Health Aide (HHA) training and licensure, Personal Care Attendant (PCA) training, HHA/PCA orientation, formal academic programs that lead to certification, or more informal continuing education programs designed to meet individual learning needs (in-service training). The nurse educator participates in quality improvement activities within the Agency promoting overall compliance with State and Federal guidelines and professional standards of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a BSN; Master’s Degree preferred.
2. One (2) year of home care experience preferred.
3. Have substantive knowledge base in there are of instruction and have the skills to convey that knowledge in a variety of ways to those who are less expert.
4. Possess a solid clinical background.
5. Exhibit flexibility and possess excellent critical thinking skills.
6. Possess strong knowledge base in theories of teaching, learning and evaluation.
7. Have the ability to design curricula and programs that reflect sound educational principles.
8. Must have the ability to assess learner needs; be innovative; and enjoy teaching.
9. Have the ability to be future-oriented to anticipate the role of the nurse in the future and adapt curriculum and teaching methods in response to innovations in nursing care.
10. Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office, MS Excel and Scheduling program. Must be able to assist in maintaining agency approved on-line training programs for instruction and employee competency.
11. Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
12. Solid interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
13. Ability to carry out directions, Comprehensive knowledge of the English language.
14. Maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
15. Exhibit outstanding customer service to both patients and employees.
