Staff Accountant

The Accountant is primarily responsible for the fundamental aspects of financial recordkeeping, including recording financial transactions, managing accounts and account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of assigned financial transactions, which may include accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll.
  • Conduct regular account reconciliation for assigned areas to assure accuracy of records.
  • Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner, elevating more complex issues for resolution.
  • Follow appropriate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner, providing individual instruction as needed to ensure users understand processes related to their financial transactions.
  • Cross-train in other areas to broaden knowledge of accounting and financial processes and systems.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including general ledger, reconciliation, month-end, journal entry, accounts payable, balance sheet, GAAP, and bank reconciliation.

Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic, utilizing a variety of technologies and systems. The role requires proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carrollton, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $33.65/hr.
