Overview
Seeking a Plant Controller to provide financial leadership and support during a leave of absence. This role serves as a key member of the plant leadership team and a strategic partner to the Plant Manager, driving profitability, ensuring compliance with financial policies, and enhancing business processes. The Controller will oversee financial operations for two facilities, with the primary work location in Portage, WI.
Base pay range
$45.00/hr - $60.00/hr
Duration
Duration: 3 Months (Leave of Absence Coverage)

$45$60/hr.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to plant leadership, providing financial analysis, insights, and recommendations aligned with strategic objectives.
- Lead the annual budget, forecasting (RF1/3), and standard cost development processes.
- Analyze variances (actual vs. budget/forecast) and provide actionable recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.
Operational & Manufacturing Support
- Partner with operations to analyze scrap, labor, overhead costs, and performance trends.
- Provide financial guidance for capital projects, cost-benefit analysis, and make/buy decisions.
- Ensure accurate month-end closing, journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Lead internal control evaluations, gap analysis, and ensure corrective actions.
- Coordinate physical inventories and cycle counts, ensuring compliance with SBU/site requirements.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Support CI/WCM initiatives (Kaizen, problem-solving events) with financial tracking and reporting.
- Proactively research and resolve issues, providing insights before they become risks.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and present monthly/quarterly reports and operational analyses for plant and senior leadership.
- Deliver timely insights on risks, opportunities, and overall plant performance.
Qualifications
- Required
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years experience in a manufacturing plant environment as a Cost Accountant or Plant Controller.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing FP&A processes.
- ERP system experience (SAP, QAD, Oracle).
- Ability to conduct training sessions and communicate financial concepts effectively.
- Preferred
- Masters Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business.
- CPA license (510 years of experience).
