Finance Manager
Lead day-to-day financial operations at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). Oversee accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes to ensure compliance, transparency, and sustainability. Monitor donor restricted contributions, retail financial performance, and internal controls. Foster strong collaboration across departments to align financial strategy with organizational goals.
Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and donor restricted contributions. Ensure timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards (FASB). Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure regulatory compliance. Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage the annual budget and monitor financial performance. Lead scenario planning and cross-functional rolling forecasting efforts. Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with donor restrictions and federal/state regulations. Ensure compliance with IRS, state charity regulators, and other relevant bodies. Oversee financial tracking and reporting of restricted and unrestricted contributions. Ensure proper allocation and documentation of program-related expenditures. Monitor financial performance of retail operations and partner with Marketplace team to optimize efficiency. Collaborate with accounting staff and other departments to enhance accuracy of, and accountability for, the underlying financial transactions of the organization. Perform other duties as assigned.
Commitment to support, promote, and authentically communicate FMSC's Christian mission and goals. Minimum of Bachelor's degree and 7 years of progressive accounting/finance experience required; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. 3 years of leadership experience required. Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and fund accounting. Experience managing audits and working with external auditors. Proficiency in financial systems, including ERP systems and Microsoft Office; familiarity with donor management systems. Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-up; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work location is Minnesota (Chanhassen, Coon Rapids, or Eagan), Texas (Richardson), or Illinois (Schaumburg). Position will have flexible/hybrid work schedule that allows for both office and remote work, though some locations may be fully remote dependent on space availability. Reports to VP of Finance / CFO.
