Responsibilities
- Provide tier 2 and tier 3 hardware and software support for both Windows and Apple-based personal computers in an enterprise and research environment.
- Provide specialized scientific hardware support to researchers, including installation and troubleshooting of scientific cameras and microscopes.
- Work in a team or independently to support staff.
- Back up computers using disk-to-disk backup equipment and disk-to-network backup.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot current and two generations newer Apple Mac operating systems.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot current and two generations newer Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Install and configure scientific peripherals and software in a research environment.
- Install and configure laptops and desktops using baseline image configuration tools and the current software set, plus any required specialized software.
- Install and configure virtual machine software (including VMware, Parallels for Mac, and VirtualBox).
- Use ServiceNow ticketing software.
- Perform backups using Windows Backup for Windows servers as needed.
- Evaluate and recommend software solutions as needed, including current over-the-counter solutions (COTS).
- Evaluate, test, and recommend hardware solutions.
- Educate staff in general computer usage and supported applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of IT experience; 3 years of which must be in a clinical and scientific environment.
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing software.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies.
- Experience creating and maintaining desktop system images.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Compensation and Benefits
Basic Compensation: $68,000 - $72,000 yearly salary. The salary range reflects what we reasonably expect to pay at posting. Final offer may vary based on skills, experience, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity. Additional compensation may include performance incentives and program-specific awards. We do not use salary history to determine compensation, in line with applicable law.
