Job Description
Position Purpose:
The IT Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing the Austin Waldorf School’s technology infrastructure, ensuring that all systems, networks, and devices operate efficiently and securely. This role supports the integration of technology into daily school operations and the classroom environment, providing technical support to faculty, staff, and students. The IT Coordinator ensures that the Austin Waldorf School’s technology tools and resources are up-to-date, accessible, and effective in supporting educational goals. Additionally, this position works to improve the school’s technology systems, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a safe and reliable digital environment for all users.
The IT coordinator's responsibilities include:
Liaise with our third-party IT management firm to provide leadership, vision, and day-to-day management of student and faculty computers, firewall and cybersecurity issues, databases, data networks, backup systems, servers, printers, and telephone systems.
Provide advice on the most suitable IT solutions and technology choices.
Install and configure software and hardware, including printers, network cards, and other equipment.
Monitor system and network performance to ensure optimal functionality.
Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and data restoration as needed.
Conduct performance maintenance activities, including regular backups and system health checks.
Maintain software licenses and manage upgrade schedules for school systems.
Develop and implement protocols and technology policies to guide appropriate technology use
Create a long-term strategic technology plan for the school, outlining future goals and upgrades.
Manage inventory of all school-owned and leased equipment including desktops, laptops, iPads, TVs, projectors, copiers, printers, and more.
Provide maintenance and support for computer labs, classroom technology, office technology, and audiovisual systems throughout the school.
Stay current with new developments in software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training, and maintenance.
Assess and respond to IT needs expressed by faculty, administration, and staff.
Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Human Resource Manager or Head of School.
Manage and administer Google Workspace (GSuite) accounts and services, including user setup, permissions, and access control for faculty, staff, and students. Ensure proper configuration, security, and functionality of email, calendars, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and other Google Workspace tools.
Professional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (e.g., Information technology, Computer science, Systems management, or related discipline).
Professional technical certifications from Google, Microsoft, Apple, Cisco, etc., are preferred.
2 years (5+ preferred) of progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems.
Current and in-depth knowledge of network architecture; telecommunication; wireless, mobile, and cloud technologies.
Knowledge of administrative and academic database systems is a plus.
Demonstrated success in a supervisory/management role.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, technical, and analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Outstanding organizational and presentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team with a positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor.
As a member of a lean administrative team, willingness to be “hands-on” and support colleagues with their various projects.
Experience in prioritizing tasks and managing complex, long-term projects.
Experience in network management and help desk support is appreciated.
Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications.
Understanding of TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN configuration.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues.
