Senior Systems Development Engineer

As a Senior Systems Development Engineer, you will be part of a team focused on services and systems at scale. This role emphasizes the development of tools and solutions that fix classes of problems and reduce toil. You will provide support to United States Government customers and will participate in scheduled on-call rotations for timely issue resolution. You will also develop cloud infrastructure and service-based solutions that bring Google Cloud's Infrastructure and Services closer to where data is generated and consumed. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in systems development, maintenance and Linux based architecture. Experience in automation and coding (e.g., Java, Python, Javascript, C++, Perl, Ruby, Go). Active US Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Inform. Preferred qualifications: 5 years of experience working with vendors or customers. Experience administering cloud services or container based applications or workloads. Ability to design secure, well-architected systems based on customer requirements. Ability to analyze situations or problems at the system level or from a broader perspective. Excellent partner management, follow-through, resourcefulness, attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills. Responsibilities: Develop, configure, and maintain internal systems and customer portals. Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews. Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation. Evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity. Perform complex day to day troubleshooting and resolution of Infrastructure issues. Collaborate with Google Engineering teams, collaborating to ensure key customer requirements are implemented.
