The Artisan Chef Manufacturing Company, located in Lawrence, Massachusetts, is a multi-faceted manufacturer of scratch-made Artisan Breads, Fresh Pastas, Gourmet Sauces, Authentic Neapolitan Style Pizza, Calzones, and Restaurant-Quality Prepared Meals. Artisan Chef Manufacturing is growing and seeks a dedicated Plant Accountant to join the team in Lawrence, MA. This on-site role is ideal for a Senior or Staff Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing, working with plant leaders to ensure timely reporting and analysis to support business decisions.

Overview

Position: Plant Accountant — reporting and analysis functions for the manufacturing plant in Lawrence, MA. The role requires process and detail orientation with the ability to work with plant leadership to deliver accurate financial information.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Maintain and update standard costs and bill of materials.
• Prepare cost analysis reports and recommend cost-saving measures.
• Reconcile physical inventory with ERP system records.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Monitor budget vs. actual results and highlight variances.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Track capital expenditures and support asset capitalization.
• Engage in cross-functional activities to understand financial impacts.
• Support implementation of new systems or upgrades.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement in accounting and reporting.
• Ad hoc tasks and reporting as needed by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly cost accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Microsoft D365) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is often preferred.
