Brown & Root Industrial Services is hiring: Electrician in Morris

SUMMARY: Plan, layout, install, and repair wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before the completion of walls, ceilings, and flooring.
2. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaws, pipe threaders, rules, and conduit benders.
3. Pull wiring through conduit, assisted by a helper.
4. Splice wires by stripping insulation with knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
5. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
6. Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, fastening them in place with crews or bolts using hand or power tools.
7. Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
8. Test circuit continuity to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeters, batteries, buzzers, and oscilloscopes.
9. Observe the functioning of installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and determine the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
10. Disassemble and repair defective electrical equipment or systems.
11. Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
12. Maintain tools and equipment.
13. Follow procedures such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and others as required.
14. Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
15. Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience in the field or related area is advantageous.
• Knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures within the electrical field.
• Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
• Work under immediate supervision, exercising some independent judgment and decision-making.
• Typically report to a supervisor or manager.

• Visualize objects or drawings in 3D.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Strength: Lift 30 lbs, carry 30 lbs, push and pull with specified torque.
• Climbing and balancing as needed.
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering as required.
