Overview

Hatch is a California chartered Industrial Bank focused on lending sponsorship, powering embedded lending products at the point of sale. As a sponsor bank, we empower partners with financial solutions, industry expertise, and collaborative partnerships to build the future of finance. We are seeking a hands-on CFO to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and asset/liability management functions. The CFO will report to the Bank President and be a key member of Hatch's executive leadership team, influencing the strategic and financial direction of the bank. The role requires ensuring financial transparency, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance, while actively managing financial performance, balance sheet, and risk. Strong background in accounting and financial reporting, plus ALM experience, is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting & Financial Reporting : Oversee all accounting operations, GAAP compliance, general ledger, audits, and financial reporting (Call Reports, Board, and other internal reports); lead timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting; maintain strong internal controls and oversight.
  • Asset / Liability Management (ALM) & Treasury : Direct ALM risk oversight, including interest-rate sensitivity analyses, to balance profitability with interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and capital requirements; participate in the ALCO committee; oversee modeling of NIM, IRR, and cash-flow scenarios; ensure sound treasury practices including investment portfolio management, funding strategies, and contingency liquidity planning; assist the Chief Revenue Officer with financial analysis for funding structures (forward flow agreements, participation agreements, and other capital markets strategies to support fintech partner programs).
  • Risk Management & Regulatory Interface : Collaborate with executive leadership to manage safety and soundness (liquidity, market, credit, and overall financial risk); serve as primary point of contact for regulatory exams and interactions with FDIC and California regulators; participate in Credit Committee; contribute to bank and fintech credit underwriting framework with portfolio performance metrics and risk-adjusted return analysis (role dependent on credit experience).
  • Financial Analysis and Strategic Leadership : Partner with the President and leadership on strategic direction; lead annual financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting; support CRO on financial analysis for existing and prospective partner relationships.
  • Team & Operations Oversight : Lead and develop the finance and accounting team; establish scalable processes and a high-performance culture aligned with Hatch's values (Service & Operational Excellence; Ownership, Accountability & Integrity; Employee growth and development; Financial responsibility and entrepreneurial mindset); implement and enhance financial systems, forecasting tools, and automation, including the use of AI.
  • Physical and sensory requirements : Prolonged periods at a desk and computer.

Education, Training and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership in banking or financial institution, including at least 3 years in CFO, Controller, or equivalent senior finance role.
  • Experience with advancing and working with new technologies including BaaS.
  • Demonstrated expertise in accounting and regulatory financial reporting.
  • Experience in Asset / Liability and Interest Rate Risk Management.
  • Proven ability to operate in a regulator-facing role with clear, transparent communication.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with or for a Sponsor Bank and/or consumer lender.
  • Experience supporting fintech lending programs or structured financing arrangements, including loan sales, credit facilities, or participation agreements.
  • Public Accounting experience with a complex bank.
  • Consumer and/or Commercial credit risk experience.

Compensation

The salary range is $180,000 to $225,000. This range may vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Hatch Bank offers a competitive benefits plan including Health, Dental, Vision, and other benefits.
