Key Job Details - ER RN Travel Nursing Assignment Location: Newport News, VA 23602 (Virginia nursing jobs) Facility: Emergency Department - 20 beds (15 monitor beds, 5 fast track rooms) Employment Type: Travel Nursing - Emergency Department Registered Nurse Shift: 12-Hour Nights (includes every other weekend and holiday) Hours per Week: 36 Assignment Duration: 15 weeks (Start: 9/22/2025 - End: 1/3/2026) Estimated Weekly Pay: $1780 - $1910 Unit Features: Primary Stroke Center, Cath Lab, staffed by experienced ED nurses and clinical techs Interview: Not required Registered Nurse Qualifications Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (required for Virginia healthcare jobs) Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience (required) Proven triage experience (required) Willingness to serve as charge nurse as needed BLS, ACLS, CPI, and PALS certifications (required; may obtain prior to start) Dysrhythmia exam required at orientation (study guide provided) Must reside more than 50 miles from facility (no local candidates) EPIC EHR experience preferred TNCC, NPR, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Emergency Department RN Responsibilities Deliver, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Emergency Department Supervise licensed and unlicensed staff in clinical support roles Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop care plans, and implement treatments Safely administer medications per hospital policies Coordinate patient care across hospital departments Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives Manage the demands of emergency nursing care in a high-intensity healthcare setting Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, EMS, law enforcement, and crisis services Apply emergency nursing practices for diverse patient populations: medical, trauma, pediatric, geriatric, and mental health Utilize lifesaving equipment and maintain readiness for rapid response situations Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills Promote cultural diversity and inclusion in patient care Advance professional growth through ongoing education and training Apply now to join our healthcare team and take the next step in your Emergency Department Registered Nurse career in Newport News, Virginia!
