In the event the helicopter cannot fly, we will care forpediatric patients in the unit. The unit isconsists of two sections containing a 14-bed unit and a 12-bed unit. Patient splacement is determined based on bed availability not by reason for admittance.Staffing ratio in ICU is 1:2 with the occasional 1:3 for ICU patients. Low census may result in floating to CVCU, which is a 1:4 staffing, or to ED to care for hold patients with the same patient ratios.
