Overview
Planner Technician, Planner I and Planner II City of Aspen. Applications accepted for these roles within the City of Aspen's Community Development department (Planning, Building, Environmental Health and Sustainability). Applications will be accepted until September 26, 2025. Key responsibilities
Planning Technician
Perform entry level planning work including research support, zoning support and customer service. Conduct plan reviews of building permits for zoning compliance. Process minor land use cases (e.g., condominium plats or document reviews) and provide backup support to more senior staff for major land use cases. Planner I
Perform intermediate professional planning work including zoning support and participation in special planning projects (long-range planning, historic preservation). Process minor land use cases (e.g., administrative Planned Development and Environmentally Sensitive Area reviews). Act as primary reviewer for Residential Design Standards compliance and assist senior staff with major land use cases. Planner II
Perform full intermediate professional planning work including policy planning, code amendments, planning project support, zoning support, and alignment with departmental goals and budget. Handle more technical land use cases (e.g., subdivision reviews, decisions by elected/appointed bodies). Serve as secondary reviewer for Residential Design Standards compliance. Prepare and present staff recommendations to City Council and Commissions. Qualifications / Employment details
