Software Development Engineer III (SDE III)
to join our growing infrastructure engineering team at ID.me. As an SDEIII, you’ll have the opportunity to empower our internal product engineering teams by building and maintaining tools, templates, and automation that streamline the development lifecycle—from project initiation to production readiness. to ensure consistent, scalable, and reusable systems. As an SDE III, you will be instrumental in enabling engineers to rapidly bootstrap new projects (such as new API services), upgrade existing services to align with best practices, and ensure consistent adoption of production standards across the organization. This role is based out of our

full-time in-office attendance . Responsibilities
Lead the design and implementation of high-quality CLI tools, GitHub Actions, or other automation to apply standardized production readiness configurations (e.g., security settings, observability setup, infrastructure hooks). Own end-to-end delivery of medium to large platform features or services, from technical design through deployment and support. Mentor and support junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and pairing. Collaborate, contribute to, and evolve the internal platform experience, ensuring high usability and developer satisfaction. Drive best practices in code quality, observability, security, and operational readiness. Contribute to the evolution of ID.me’s platform by building foundational services and frameworks used across the organization. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 3+ years of professional software development experience. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a platform or product infrastructure team. Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and DevOps tooling. Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or other cloud platforms. Experience with security compliance in enterprise environments (e.g., SOC2, FedRAMP). Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical contexts. Passion for mentorship, documentation, and elevating team performance. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD systems. Experience building or contributing to internal development platforms, SDKs, or scaffolding tools. Understanding of production observability principles (logging, metrics, alerting). Demonstrated ownership of at least one significant project or feature from design through launch. Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, equity, or benefits and will be determined based on experience, location, and role. U.S. pay ranges: Mountain View, CA: $168,926 - $204,000 USD ID.me offers comprehensive medical, dental, vision, health savings account, flexible spending accounts, life and AD&D insurance, 401(k) with company match, parental leave, unlimited paid time off subject to PTO policy, holidays, disability insurance, referral bonus policy, wellbeing and child care discounts, and a learning and development benefit.
