Automation Systems Engineer II

Security Clearance: DoD Secret. This role is part of Raytheon’s Industry 4.0 – Connected Factory Intelligence and Automation (CFI&A) department, supporting design, development, implementation, and sustainment of automation solutions and IIoT/Industry 4.0 technologies in manufacturing. Relocation not available. This is an onsite Goleta position. What you will do
Continuous improvement, upgrades, and sustainment of deployed automation systems using core automation skills (PLC programming, robotics programming, vision programming, HMI programming, and SCADA development). Collaborate with senior engineers to identify, develop, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions. Support early New Product Introduction activities including Design for Manufacturing engagements. Develop system-level requirements, specifications, and documentation to support automation initiatives. Troubleshoot and optimize automated systems to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability. Support implementation of emerging IIoT technologies to keep Raytheon at the forefront of manufacturing innovation. Qualifications you must have
Typically requires BS in an Engineering field or sciences with minimum 2+ years in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or an advanced STEM degree in Engineering. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. Experience with programming PLCs or similar micro-controllers. Basic hardware and software troubleshooting experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Qualifications we Prefer
Active DoD Secret Clearance. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols. Experience with industrial robots and vision systems. Ignition development experience. Experience deploying IIoT-based systems. Python or other scripting experience.
