Datadog is seeking a Cloud FinOps Analyst, Cloud Efficiency and Analytics. This role is part of Datadog’s internal infrastructure team focused on cloud cost management and optimization across multiple clouds.

The Team: Cloud Efficiency and Analytics is part of Datadog’s internal infrastructure team and is responsible for all things cloud cost related. This position lives in Data Projects, a group focused on high-leverage research and initiatives within our infrastructure spend. Projects vary from modeling Datadog’s infrastructure costs across clouds, leveraging the latest cloud discount instruments, to using observability data to identify opportunities to reduce spend.
You will
Work closely with the Cloud Efficiency and Analytics Organization and company leadership to drive high-visibility projects and guide investments with quantitative analysis
Learn about monitoring billions of containers per day across multi-cloud environments and translate that into cloud infrastructure costs
Use spreadsheets, spark jobs, and ML algorithms to derive insights into data and trends for the business
Build models and test them against reality
Iterate on solving hard problems, breaking down big questions into manageable steps
Collaborate across the organization, meeting with senior engineering leadership and engineers on any Datadog team
You are
Passionate about detailed work and completing initiatives
Own your work beyond a single task; develop domain expertise and contribute across organizational boundaries
Have several years of Python and SQL experience
Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative problem solving
Understand major cloud providers and how engineers use them (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Love optimizing cost and performance, with strong focus on the bottom line
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate outside of your direct team
Experience in data science, data visualization, and statistics
Not required to be strongest in all areas; able to contribute in one of financial analysis, cloud billing, cloud infrastructure analysis, or data engineering/data science
BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
