Senior Electrical Engineer-Surface role at Jobs via Dice. Microsoft Corporation is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to focus on the electrical system design for next generation Surface products. You will work cross-functionally with Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, Software and Firmware teams to develop compelling innovative products. You will design and develop circuits, select key strategic components and address the entire product design lifecycle. Lead motherboard floorplan and layout in collaboration with ME, ID, and Thermal teams. Develop schematics and BOM to meet design requirements. Design, build, and test rapid prototypes for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts. Create design documentation, develop schematics, and board layouts to meet system design requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the overall system from concept to completion. Use simulation and lab measurements to support design troubleshooting, drive failure analysis, root cause analysis, and design of experiments to resolve issues. Work with suppliers, contractors, and engineering services to ensure on-time delivery with high quality. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 3+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping high-volume consumer electronics products of medium to high complexity. Hands-on design experience in analog/digital electronics including RF, analog, digital, audio, video, power, electromechanical, low power, charging, touch display, and sensors. Experience with x86 PC and/or ARM architectures and implementation of high-speed serial buses (PCIe, DP, USB4, Thunderbolt, MIPI) and high-speed parallel buses (e.g., DDR4/5). Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 6+ years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with PCB materials, flex design, and PCB/FPC manufacturing processes. Experience with system-level SI/PI simulation and correlating results to resolve design issues. Familiarity with high-speed interface protocols and electrical measurement equipment (VNA, TDR, oscilloscope). Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with solid understanding of core engineering principles, circuit design, and analytics. Clear communication skills, able to express technical concepts verbally and in writing. Electrical Engineering IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range for specific locations (San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metro area). Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
