Public Relations Senior Account Director
Job Description:
The position of Senior Account Director reports to a Vice President or higher level employee. The primary responsibility is to supervise and implement account work for several clients within an Agency division/discipline. The Senior Account Director is responsible for managing and executing all aspects of a PR program, supervising and managing the client relationship, managing the account team and helping to grow the agency in a new business function. Should demonstrate an expertise to answer all general PR questions immediately and unaided and an ability to think ahead for a client – the 30,000 foot view. Should have the ability to strategize, pitch and secure all forms of media (print, broadcast, online).
Responsibilities
Providing senior strategic counsel to clients and account team
Managing the execution of programs as well as assuming direct responsibility for quality implementation
Continually developing relationships with media and influencers and pitching clients on an ongoing basis
Anticipating clients’ strategic needs–both long and short term
Offering value-add counsel on an ongoing basis
Planning and running strategic client meetings
Retaining current accounts and growing them
Building relationships at the senior level with clients while maintaining others
Supervising account staff in their daily activities, providing structure and instruction for balancing workloads
Motivating/mentoring junior staff and guiding professional development
Taking a proactive role in assuming fiscal responsibility for accounts and team
Guiding the operations and future course of division and agency
Education and Experience Required
BA/BS Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field
10+ years minimum experience in public relations
Prior agency experience is a must
Knowledge and Skills Required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Detail oriented and results oriented
Ability to spot trends and integrate into PR efforts to keep accounts current in the media
