Position Summary

The Director of Finance is a key executive leader responsible for the full spectrum of financial management, including oversight of the accounting, accounts payable, and payroll functions. This role will drive financial strategy, ensure robust accounting operations, and lead a team of four, supporting the company’s growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership

Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals and investor expectations (e.g., Net Operating Result, revenue growth, margin improvement, and liquidity).

Advise the CEO and executive team on financial planning, risk management, and capital allocation.

Accounting Operations

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close.

Ensure timely and accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting in compliance with US GAAP.

Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury functions.

Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.

Ensure compliance with all tax, legal, and regulatory filings and deadlines.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis with recommendations for corrective action.

Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and KPI dashboards (e.g., gross profit, net operating income, cost per hire, branch performance).

Analyze trends, highlight risks/opportunities, and present insights to leadership and the Board.

Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

Operational Finance & Business Partnership

Ensure effective cash flow, AR/AP, payroll, and expense management.

Support process improvements and cost optimization initiatives across the business.

Collaborate with sales, operations, and HR to evaluate new business, pricing models, and client profitability.

Support M&A, new market entry, and business diversification initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA/CPA preferred.

5+ years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in staffing, professional services, or multi-branch environments.

Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting for organizations with $40M+ in annual revenue.

Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and compliance.

Advanced Excel and financial systems skills; experience with Tempworks or similar ERP a plus.

Strategic thinker with strong business acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.

Proven ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
