The position is based with The David and Lucile Packard Foundation in Los Altos, California, working in partnership with UC Berkeley-Haas School of Business. The role will support the U.S. Racial Justice Initiative and contribute to a fellowship in philanthropy serving diverse issues and populations in the Just Societies program. The position operates on a hybrid schedule, with some in-office days as described, and includes flexible working arrangements determined with the supervisor. Responsibilities

Lead efforts to implement the U.S. Racial Justice Initiative’s third strategic priority: catalyzing big ideas that advance a more just and equitable future. Manage grantmaking and partnerships to amplify underrepresented voices and reimagine systems for greater equity. Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and a learning agenda to assess the impact of catalytic investments and identify conditions for scaling. Prepare grant summaries, participate in portfolio reviews, and design or manage open calls or other grantmaking mechanisms for early-stage or underfunded ideas. Monitor field trends in racial equity innovation, narrative change, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and learning. Build and steward relationships with partners across sectors, including artists, academics, technologists, organizers, and funders. Engage in university and foundation professional development opportunities related to the Program Analyst role. Travel to meet partners and attend relevant conferences. Provide project management support to the director, including materials for program meetings, grantee meetings, site visits, meeting summaries, and follow-up actions. Graduate-level education in the social sciences, public policy, business, or related social justice field. Minimum of 4 years of full-time professional experience. Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and equity, with interest in innovation, creative problem-solving, or systems change. Ability to apply insights grounded in Black communities’ lived and learned experiences. Strategic thinker with strong research, analysis, and organizational skills; ability to synthesize information and track emerging trends across sectors. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to work with colleagues, grantees, and external partners. Ability to make sound decisions in evolving situations with curiosity, initiative, and multiple project management abilities. Willingness to travel. Strong commitment to building positive and professional working relationships. Master’s degree in the social sciences, public policy, business, or related social justice field and/or equivalent experience/training. Salary & Benefits

Budgeted annual salary range: $74,700.00 – $90,000.00. This is a 2-year full-time contract appointment eligible for UC benefits, with the possibility of extension based on funding. This is not a visa opportunity. The position will be based at the Packard Foundation, Los Altos, California, with hybrid schedule. The Foundation currently operates on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in-office. Conviction History Background
