Itron is seeking a Director of Product Management – Grid Management to join our team. As a leader in optimizing distribution network capacity, we’re driving the integration of distributed energy resources while enhancing grid reliability, outage response, and distribution operations and planning. This role is pivotal to delivering high-value business outcomes, achieving revenue growth and profitability across product lines, and establishing Itron as a recognized industry leader in differentiated grid applications. The Director of Product Management will collaborate cross-functionally with senior executives and key contributors across Sales, Technical Sales, R&D, Service Delivery, Networks BU, and Marketing, as well as engage directly with customers and partners at all levels.

Responsibilities

Grow and optimize profitability for the grid management services line of business, including outages, grid reliability, failure analysis, power quality, grid planning, and related analytics and control outcomes leveraging Itron’s Distributed Intelligence technology.

Lead the line of business in Strategy, Product Management and Product Marketing, including: line strategy, market segmentation, competitive assessment, business cases, roadmap; whole product definition, GTM, and positioning; drive portfolio adoption and identify customer opportunities; define Go-to-market and align channel with solutions; collaborate with sales and marketing to close bookings.

Support technology trade-off management through PLC and NPI; ensure product margin and customer satisfaction through lifecycle; define application platform strategy, roadmap, and execution to lead utility information use cases.

Coordinate training of internal and external customers about products, services, and roadmaps; resolve conflicting priorities between departments; research competitive landscape and develop positioning, case studies, and collateral.

Represent the product line at trade shows and conferences; collaborate with Sales Enablement and Product Management to understand customer challenges and Outcomes-related solutions.

Support partner strategy with Product Management, Partnerships, and Sales; make decisions with significant bottom-line and growth implications; set roadmap, pricing, go-to-market, and messaging for each product line.

Forecast and assess commercial risks and mitigations; lead application platform strategy and partnerships; coach and mentor team; lead trade-off decisions and issue resolution; prioritize portfolio and bundling of operational support.

Qualifications

12+ years of experience in business development, business case development, customer interaction, product management, or strategic planning.

Master’s degree or equivalent experience; top-tier MBA or management consulting background preferred.

Expertise in Product Management with a demonstrated leadership in the discipline; strong technical, business, and market knowledge in utilities and related domains.

Working knowledge of utility distribution planning, engineering, and operations; familiarity with ADMS, OMS, GIS and related OT systems.

Experience in consultative solution selling, market development, and utility business case modeling; strong analytical and systems thinking capabilities.

Strong communication skills for technical and executive audiences; self-starter, well organized, and able to drive a new line of business.

Ability to manage cross-functional projects to meet tight deadlines and navigate ambiguity; ability to align stakeholders across Sales, R&D, Marketing, and Service Delivery.

Proven experience in go-to-market planning, competitive positioning, and business case modeling; mentoring and coaching product teams; stakeholder engagement up to C-suite.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; knowledge of utility/city business models and smart grid/IoT trends.

Experience in incubating new business opportunities, including go-to-market challenges, sales models, and organizational changes.

Willingness to travel up to 30% of time.

Compensation The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location. The base salary range is

$150,000 – $336,000

annually.
