Position Summary To establish and cultivate lifelong relationships among alumni, the Assistant Director, Alumni Events (assistant director) serves as a representative for the organization’s multi-faceted University Advancement mission.
Reporting to the Director, Alumni Engagement, the assistant director works in consultation and collaboration with the director to advance the engagement strategy for alumni. This position is directly responsible for coordinating the alumni reunion program, which includes recruiting, training, supporting and recognizing volunteers in addition to providing logistical support for meetings and reunion activities, and collaborating on strategies directly related to reunions. This position is the manager for assigned special and recurring events, including pre-game experiences such as tailgates, alumni commencement events, and other major events.
This position requires access to transportation for occasional travel to meetings and events. This position must be able to work occasional nights and/or weekends to fulfill special projects and events.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the alumni reunion program, including recruiting, training, supporting, and recognizing volunteers; provide logistical support for meetings and reunion activities; collaborate on reunion strategies.
Manage assigned special and recurring events, including pre-game experiences (tailgates), alumni commencement events, and other major events.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
Three years of full-time (or equivalent) experience in producing events and meetings for both internal and external audiences.
One year of full-time (or equivalent) experience in project management, setting timelines, budgeting, evaluating programs, and defining milestones for completion.
Professional Competencies
Demonstrated ability to build and manage programs; develop strategies to achieve operating goals; experience with financial management and budgeting.
Demonstrated ability to plan and design events, measure impact and ROI, and build longitudinal strategy.

Maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners, including volunteers, faculty, staff, and others as appropriate.
Expertise in recruiting, training, managing, and motivating volunteers.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook (or similar scheduling/calendar program); familiarity with Microsoft Office and routine software applications.
Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Ability to adapt as new situations arise.
Familiarity with the University of Oregon and UOAA.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with alumni relations and advancement in a higher education setting.
Experience working remotely, or in a setting with limited direct supervision.
