Senior Special Systems Project Managers handle daily operations of special projects and lead a high-performing team. They coordinate with project partners and stakeholders, define team roles, establish structure and communication expectations, and oversee planning, execution, and financial performance. Receives assignments as objectives and decides how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance within established policies and may recommend policy changes that affect immediate organizations. Complexity:
Works on issues with diverse scope, analyzes multiple factors, follows processes to obtain solutions, and may advise subordinates to meet schedules or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules and performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities. Discretion:
Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will impact costs and short-term goals. Interaction:
Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peers; leads cooperative efforts among project team members. Supervision:
Manages the coordination of activities within a section or department, including costs, methods, and staffing. May be responsible for a functional area without subordinate employees. Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement strategic planning aligned with organizational goals. 5-10 years’ experience in progressive and design-build projects in the respective industries. Experience on projects worth $50 million or more.
Project Oversight:
Manage project progress, team performance, timelines, and stakeholder expectations. Knowledge and experience in systems design, construction, commissioning, testing, and integration from conceptual design to completion.
Budget Management:
Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and profitability. Budget systems from conceptual design to completion. Manage estimating teams and coordinate with third-party budget review teams. Partner with subcontractors and internal groups for alignment. Manage installation quantities, QA/QC audits, and testing plans; ensure pre-functional testing is managed and documented. Instill and manage safety plans and goals.
Communication and Decision-Making:
Ensure safety plans daily, communicate risks, staff effectively, and provide project updates to executives. Manage start-ups and project kickoffs, ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, and share risk mitigation plans with the team.
Strategic Direction:
Deliver projects on time with high standards and consistent quality; handle complex judgments and align with organizational goals.
About You
Thorough knowledge of estimating, project cost accounting, scheduling, procurement, productivity tracking, and reporting for electrical construction projects.
Experience with union workforces.
Proven safe, reliable, and integrity-driven work habits, including field and remote-office work as appropriate.
Strong management and leadership skills with a track record of developing employees.
Ability to influence and drive positive outcomes.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Project; Accubid Classic experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with any required licenses or certifications, is qualifying. Education : High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar preferred. Licensure/Certifications : RCDD certification a plus. Experience : Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years with a Master’s degree; at least five (5) years in a Project Manager level leadership role in electrical construction or related activities; 2 years managing professional staff.
