FRAME is a Californian fashion brand established in 2012 by Erik Torstensson and Jens Grede. Since inception, FRAME has embodied Californian modernity with a distinctly European influence through its renowned ready-to-wear collections and coveted denim essentials. Born and raised in Los Angeles, FRAME offers a timeless perspective on everyday chic outfitting via signature tailoring, luxury leather, and quality cashmere. Today, FRAME is a household name across both women’s and men’s design, with 15 standalone retail stores across North America, two London stores, a store in Shanghai and a dedicated eCommerce website. FRAME can also be found at the most desirable department stores and boutiques worldwide. FRAME is seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior Knitwear Designer to join our Ready-to-Wear team. This role is responsible for driving innovation, modernity, and product excellence within our Sweaters and Cut & Sew categories, blending trend research with a deep understanding of craftsmanship and brand DNA.
Responsibilities
Research global trends, inspiration, and market insights to infuse newness, innovation, and brand-right modernity into FRAME’s knitwear offering.
Present seasonal research, sketches, and design concepts to Design leadership for alignment on creative direction.
Manage the end-to-end design process — from initial concept and sketching through development, fittings, and final production handoff.
Delegate projects and tasks to Assistant and Associate Designers, providing leadership, mentorship, and constructive feedback to guide their growth.
Partner cross-functionally with Merchandising, Product Development, and Production to ensure design intent aligns with business goals, cost targets, and delivery timelines.
Collaborate closely with Technical Design and Pattern Making teams to achieve FRAME’s desired fit, construction, and elevated quality standards.
Lead seasonal yarn and fabric research and selection, presenting curated options to Design leadership at milestone reviews.
Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international yarn and fabric vendors, exploring new techniques, innovations, and sustainable opportunities.
Oversee and lead all fittings to ensure proper execution of design vision and technical precision.
Maintain deep awareness of FRAME’s competitive landscape, ensuring collections balance trend relevance with brand integrity.
Qualifications
5–7 years of experience in Fashion Design, with a strong focus on fully fashioned knitwear.
BFA in Fashion Design
or equivalent.
Advanced proficiency in
Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate, and Excel ; experience with PLM systems a plus.
Strong technical understanding of knitwear, including
yarn counts, gauges, stitches, knitting techniques, and finishing details .
Established relationships or familiarity with major
yarn and fabric mills , particularly Italian and Chinese suppliers.
Exceptional
design sensibility
with a passion for luxury and contemporary markets.
Excellent
written, visual, and verbal communication skills ; comfortable presenting concepts to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a
fast-paced environment
managing multiple deadlines.
A collaborative leader with the ability to
mentor and motivate junior designers
and foster team growth.
Self-starter with a
