Senior Principal Water Market Leader, Food & Beverage

to help grow our water and wastewater engineering practices. This position can be based in Boise, ID; Phoenix, AZ; Pittsburgh, PA; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; Acton, MA; or from any Geosyntec office in the US. This is a leadership role focused on growing the water business for the Food & Beverage market, developing and implementing a strategy to achieve significant market share, and supporting complex drinking water and industrial wastewater projects nationwide. The role involves working with experts to win and lead innovative water and wastewater projects and collaborating with peers to transform the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. You will work with experienced professionals to integrate into Geosyntec's culture as you advance in your career. You will operate in a sell-manage-do environment, handling challenging technical projects while expanding current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You will develop a market strategy for the water for the food and beverage sector, organize and lead staff to advance that strategy, and support market development in other sectors. You may serve as project director for large and/or high-risk projects and take on staff leadership and mentoring roles.

Key responsibilities include:

Strategic business planning to segment and target industrial, commercial, and municipal clients for projects such as water supply, water treatment, and water reuse, focused on the food and beverage market.

Engagement with project and operations staff to align Geosyntec's full-service delivery with market demands of the food and beverage industry.

Participation in development and implementation of the firm's strategic plan and inter-departmental/branch initiatives that benefit the company (practice group involvement, client management leadership, market sector development, and leadership for multiple offices or practice groups).

Implementation of a personal business development plan to expand services and revenue with new and existing clients, in coordination with company-wide plans.

Serve as Client Account Manager on selected accounts critical to the water market.

Active participation in professional societies, conferences, and meetings to increase visibility of the firm to potential clients and recruits; contribute to the profession to be recognized as an industry leader.

Project directorship, ensuring client expectations are understood and met, budgets and quality objectives are achieved, and follow-on work is pursued.

Recruiting, managing, and mentoring junior staff and mid-career engineers and scientists.

Reviewing and leading major proposals and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.

Fieldwork as needed, including contractor oversight and process troubleshooting.

Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or project sites, as needed.

Education and Licensure

Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, or environmental preferred). (required)

Advanced degree (same disciplines). (preferred)

Professional registration (P.E.). (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

At least 15 years (20+ preferred) of progressive experience in the consulting industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

Demonstrated experience with industrial and municipal clients on water supply, water treatment, and water reuse projects. (required)

Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations. (required)

Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)

Proven success in developing and managing clients and growing a practice with professional junior staff. (required)

Excellent leadership and attention to detail. (required)

Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client facilities as needed. (required)

Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)

Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)

Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).

Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.

Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
