Position Title: Museum Visitor Experience Manager Department: Museum of Making Music Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt Position Reports to: Museum Executive Director Location: Carlsbad, CA – Tuesday through Saturday, some evenings Salary Range: $27.40 - $30.77 per hour Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience. Oversee daily museum operations by performing opening and closing procedures, monitoring gallery and instrument readiness, supporting public-facing volunteers, and ensuring all safety and security protocols are upheld. Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all visitors by sharing information on exhibitions, programs, and resources; respond to feedback and resolve concerns with professionalism and care to create a positive, memorable experience. Monitor and maintain interactive exhibits, AV systems, and digital tools; perform basic troubleshooting and repairs and recommend or source replacements as needed to ensure reliable functionality. Coordinate with staff and external contractors for IT, AV, and specialized maintenance needs. Collaborate as part of a small, cross-functional team, contributing to strategic planning, exhibition installations, the development of future programming and more. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, arts administration, education, hospitality management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in visitor services, museum operations, cultural institutions, or a related customer-focused role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to welcome and support diverse audiences in a warm, positive, and professional manner. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar platforms. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain digital tools, interactive exhibits, or AV systems, with basic technical repair and problem-solving skills. Proven organizational and multitasking abilities, with a high level of attention to detail in daily operations and visitor experience. Ability to remain calm and professional when resolving visitor concerns or unexpected situations. Comfort with physical aspects of the role, including moving light equipment, setting up AV, and standing/walking for extended periods. Collaborative and adaptable spirit suited to a small team environment. Passion for music and the arts, and a commitment to the mission of the Museum of Making Music. Availability to work Tuesday–Saturday schedule, with some evenings as needed. Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a museum, cultural organization, or music-related setting. Familiarity with digital engagement tools, interactive instrument care, or IT/AV systems in a public-facing environment. Knowledge of best practices in guest services, safety, and accessibility. Experience supervising volunteers, interns, or front-line staff. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills. Experience playing musical instruments. Benefits
