This Transmission Operations/Planning Engineer position can be hired at the Entry, Staff, Senior, or Principal levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience. This position will be located in Golden, Colorado, or Minneapolis, Minnesota on a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week on-site). Responsibilities
Viewed as the technical engineer or subject matter expert for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned area of responsibility (i.e., subject matter, function, type of facility, equipment or product). Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Problems are approached through a series of complex and conceptually related studies, are difficult to define, require unconventional or innovative approaches, and require sophisticated research techniques. Responsible for major projects or several complex projects of moderate to large scope. Acts as the organization’s spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Serves as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical studies and applications. Maintains contacts with individuals and units within and outside the corporation for action on technical matters. Works under consultative direction toward broad general goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated; determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. May provide work direction for a team of engineers, technicians and other professionals; may lead multiple critical and/or complex projects. Essential Responsibilities
Applies extensive technical expertise and has a high-level understanding of related disciplines. Demonstrates unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level by applying advanced principles, theories and concepts; contributes to the development of new principles and technical standards. As a recognized internal SME, conceives plans and conducts research to develop procedures, codes and standards in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity; supports development of technical documentation through complex studies Exercises authority and technical leadership on self-initiated and self-directed assignments with strategic impact on business objectives. Leads multiple critical and/or complex projects including research, design, equipment specification and selection, installation, start-up, commissioning and evaluation of progress and results. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Manages bid/evaluation processes including bid documents, technical evaluations, and recommendations for selection. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects/programs and communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Provides oversight of engineers, interns, craft personnel, technicians and other professionals; mentors less experienced engineers and demonstrates effective leadership. Coordinates processes related to budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting and work order management in support of engineering projects. Minimum Requirements by Level
Entry Engineer Level (Salary Range: $68,300 - $86,500)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum. 0+ years of relevant engineering experience; ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level as established and documented by the organization. Preferred EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering). Staff Engineer Level (Salary Range: $79,800 - $103,666)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program. 2+ years of relevant engineering experience. Demonstrated broad knowledge and proficiency in the specialty area, related disciplines, and general knowledge of other related areas. Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level as established and documented by the organization. EIT/FE strongly preferred. Senior Engineer Level (Salary Range: $94,600 - $126,134)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum. 5+ years of relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; 7+ years without EIT/FE. Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level as established and documented by the organization. Preferred PE registration; may be required depending on business need. Principal Engineer (Salary Range: $109,300 - $152,766)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum. 9+ years of relevant engineering experience with PE registration required; 15+ years without PE. Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this level as established and documented by the organization. Preferred Qualifications
