Job Description Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55418, United States of America This Transmission Operations/Planning Engineer position can be hired at the Entry, Staff, Senior, or Principal levels and will differ as minimum skills and/or experience will be required for each level. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience. This position will be located in Golden, Colorado, or Minneapolis, Minnesota on a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week on-site). Position Summary
The Transmission Operations/Planning Engineer is the technical engineer or subject matter expert for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned area of responsibility. This includes subjects, functions, types of facilities, equipment or products. The role contributes to the development of new principles and concepts and handles problems that require complex, unconventional, or innovative approaches and sophisticated research techniques. The position may involve major projects or several complex projects of moderate to large scope and may act as an organization spokesperson on advanced projects and programs. It may include advising management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications, maintaining internal and external contacts on technical matters, and sometimes providing work direction for a team of engineers, technicians and other professionals. Assignments are often self-initiated, with action determined and pursued to obtain desired results. Work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than formal review by a supervisor. The role may lead multiple critical or complex projects. Responsibilities

Problems are approached through a series of complex and conceptually related studies requiring unconventional or innovative approaches and sophisticated research techniques. Advises management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Maintains contacts with individuals and units within and outside the corporation for action on technical matters. Works under consultative direction toward broad general goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated; determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Work is reviewed by consultation and agreement with others. May provide work direction for a team of engineers, technicians and other professionals as necessary to complete assignments. May lead multiple critical and/or complex projects. Applies extensive technical expertise and has a high-level understanding of related disciplines. Demonstrates unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level and contributes to developing new principles, concepts, and technical standards. As a recognized internal SME, conceives plans and conducts research to develop procedures, codes and standards in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity and supports technical documentation through complex studies. Exerts authority and technical leadership on self-initiated assignments with strategic implications for business objectives. May lead multiple critical and/or complex projects including research, design, equipment specification and selection, installation, start-up, commissioning and evaluation of progress and results. Advises management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Manages bid/evaluation processes including bid document preparation, technical evaluations, and recommendations for selection. Acts as organization spokesperson on advanced projects/programs and communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders. May provide oversight of engineers, interns, craft personnel, technicians and other professionals; mentors less experienced engineers and supports knowledge transfer and skill development. May coordinate processes related to budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting and work order management in support of existing projects or future proposals. Salary Levels
Entry Engineer Level (Salary Range: $68,300-86,500) Min Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited curriculum; 0+ years relevant engineering experience; EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering). Staff Engineer Level (Salary Range: $79,800-$103,666) Min Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited; 2+ years relevant engineering experience; ability to demonstrate unique technical skills; EIT/FE strongly. Senior Engineer Level (Salary Range: $94,600-$126,134) Min Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited; 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required; 7+ years without EIT/FE; PE registration may be required depending on business need. Principal Engineer (Salary Range: $109,300-$152,766) Min Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET-accredited; 9+ years relevant engineering experience with PE registration required; 15+ years without PE.
