Overview

The Marketing organization influences decisions by establishing and communicating our full product value proposition across the full value chain, from payers to health systems to prescribers and patients. Marketers are storytellers who inform positioning, deliver customer-led content, and design integrated experiences in partnership with networked teams. This Director, Marketing Performance Marketing is integral to delivering the Digital Marketing Vision. The Digital Marketing Office, led by the Head of Digital Marketing and reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, drives Genentech’s digital marketing transformation and focuses on four key areas, including Performance Marketing. The candidate will report to the Senior Director, Performance Marketing and lead engagement and adoption of performance marketing practices with brand teams, ensuring training, tools, and methodologies meet brand goals and drive efficient outcomes at scale. Key Job Responsibilities

Serve as a Performance Marketing expert and business lead, driving complex change from current to future state

Enable transitions by implementing new capabilities, coaching teams, and partnering on training content

Lead champion team, coaching and measuring successful adoption of changes

Lead change management initiatives with brand teams, ensuring a seamless transition to new Performance Marketing strategies, practices, and processes

Onboard each brand into Performance Marketing practices

Design and deliver comprehensive training on bespoke Performance Marketing topics, tailored to brand needs

Build partnerships with brand marketing to surface needs and opportunities

Document and report on the health of Performance Marketing engagement and escalate challenges

Lead or support special projects, such as large-group presentations, trainings, and workshops; represent best practices across DMO

Identify processes in need of revision and work with Enablement and Process Lead to address them

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify capabilities/platforms to be delivered by partners and used across marketing

Partner with marketers and agencies to identify opportunities for optimizing performance and develop robust measurement plans

Identify opportunities to leverage advanced performance marketing capabilities for strategic business challenges

Conduct regular office hours to offer direct support to brand teams on performance marketing tools and methodologies

Establish forums for cross-brand knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination

Provide strategic input to inform the evolution of the enterprise performance marketing roadmap, tool development, and training programs

Collaborate with brand leadership to align initiatives with franchise/portfolio and commercial objectives

Advocate for standardized performance marketing measurement frameworks and governance across engaged brand teams

Evaluate external agency partners for performance marketing objectives and adoption of new capabilities

Who You Are

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree

8 years minimum work experience, with 6 years of commercial experience (sales, marketing, market access or customer insights), two of which must be in marketing

Experience with sole ownership of tactics or pieces; ability to articulate business problems, identify solutions and own content development from strategy through execution

Experience contributing to brand strategy development and executing integrated marketing plans that align with strategic business objectives

Significant experience in performance marketing roles, applying data-driven insights to manage, measure, and optimize campaigns across channels

Hands-on experience using marketing analytics platforms and BI tools to translate data into actionable recommendations

Proven ability to interpret and synthesize complex data from diverse sources to identify trends and inform marketing narratives

Experience operating in a data-driven marketing environment and championing data in decision-making

Preferred: MBA or related graduate degree preferred

Marketing experience in relevant industries

Experience in managed care, pharmaceutical, or biotech customer engagement

Experience creating strategies and tactics that strengthen market positioning and drive high-value outcomes

Experience with marketing measurement tools (e.g., MMM) or ability to interpret results for strategic decisions

Experience with dashboards or platform tools to inform campaigns

Proficiency with web analytics and CX tools (e.g., Content Square, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)

Experience with incrementality testing to measure true impact

Experience applying performance marketing in pharmaceutical or biotech marketing

Strong change management experience to drive adoption of new analytics tools and data-driven processes

Ability to drive a data-driven marketing practice focusing on metrics that matter

Experience with working with media partners to optimize campaigns

Broad experience in digital marketing and digital media

Ability to think with an enterprise mindset

Ability to thrive in ambiguity and transformational change

Strong customer orientation and adaptability

Strong business acumen and presentation skills

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

Benefits and Legal

The salary range for this position is $187,100 - $347,500, based on location in CA. Actual pay will be determined by experience, qualifications, location, and other factors.
