Software Engineering Manager Hybrid in NYC : Hybrid 3x a week in the office with up to 2 remote days per week. About The Team

People Inc. is looking for a Software Engineering Manager focused on front-end development with mentorship, innovative thinking, and technical excellence. You will work in an Agile environment to support and expand the search and recommendation services across the Home and Food brands. As the technology leader on your scrum team, you will help set technical direction, implement ideas in code, and collaborate with other groups within the organization. Responsibilities
Lead and mentor front-end developers on your team, growing their skills and preparing them for increased responsibility. Prototype and develop responsive cross-platform functionality on a custom server-side component framework with Java on the back end, SCSS, Freemarker templates, and ES6 on the front end, with VueJS for interactive components. Contribute to and maintain a highly performant site experience. Research new technologies to solve problems and improve existing systems. Lead discussions about project architecture and technical feasibility; make decisions and justify the development approach. Collaborate with business and product stakeholders to launch new features while maintaining engineering standards. Organize, track, and lead the reduction of technical debt. Develop Looker Views and Models to democratize access to data products. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, ML, Backend) to scope and build ML-powered UI experiences. Create and manage ML ops workflows or ML infrastructure. Experience with ingesting raw data with Fivetran and Python and surfacing in BigQuery for production use. Own front-end performance, architecture, and reliability decisions. Guide and support Elasticsearch integration for user-facing search functionality. Qualifications
7+ years in a front-end or full stack web development position. 3+ years managing engineers. High proficiency with HTML, CSS, SCSS, and vanilla JavaScript; significant experience with one or more other languages. Experience with a server-side templating language (e.g., JSP, Twig, Python, or Handlebars) or a component-based framework with server-side templating (e.g., Vue+Nuxt). Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch or similar search tools. Experience with at least one cloud service platform (GCP and AWS preferred). Experience with data at scale using Apache Spark, Beam, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with data streaming architectures (Pub/Sub, Apache Kafka). Knowledge of web performance standards and Google's Core Web Vitals. Proven track record of integrating 3rd party APIs into web applications. Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly requirements, and vice versa. Comfortable with modern Agile+Scrum SDLC tools (Git, Jira, etc.). Benefits / EEO

Salary: New York: $180,000 - $200,000 The stated pay range represents the anticipated low and high end for this position and may change. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance. This range is one component of People Inc's total compensation package, which may include annual bonuses and other incentives. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, PTO, parental leave, 401K with company match, and other voluntary benefits. These may vary by location and role.
