Overview
SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE AUTOMATION ENGINEER Join to apply for the SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE AUTOMATION ENGINEER role at NYC Department of Social Services (DSS). The Office of Enterprise Solutions Engineering within ITS supports the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of web and mobile applications across DSS agencies. This role works across ITS to ensure high-quality software through manual and automated testing during the quality assurance phase of the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of software test frameworks, test requirements, test strategies, test plans, and test cases. Design and document test scripts for regression, functional, exploratory, and negative test scenarios. Perform regular code reviews to verify automation code quality and coverage. Develop SQL scripts (simple and complex) to verify data and support data migration activities. Plan and manage manual testing across multiple browsers and devices for web and mobile applications, ensuring functionality, design, and responsiveness align with requirements. Provide support and troubleshooting for QA activities, including test scenario design and automation script development. Participate in day-to-day Agile/Scrum ceremonies and report on work status, progress, and risks. Assist with estimation, prioritization, and planning for testing of functionalities and data sets based on user feedback. Leverage syntactical writing to conduct ad hoc analyses to inform and support DHS technology, particularly for urgent business problems or policy decisions. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, data visualization, or a related field and four years of full-time related experience with a specialization in a relevant technology; or an associate degree with six years of related experience; or equivalent combination as defined by the agency. Preferred Skills: Strong expertise in test automation using major programming languages and frameworks for APIs, web, and mobile apps; knowledge of STLC/SDLC and Agile; experience with QA for reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Oracle Reports, Cognos); familiarity with regression, functional, integration, system, and cross-browser testing; experience documenting test plans, test scripts, and results; ability to manage large-scale systems and work in an Agile environment; strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills. Additional Information
This position may require access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and may involve a background investigation; reinvestigation may be required every 10 years. Hours/Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Public Service Loan Forgiveness: Prospective employees may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
