Under general supervision of the IT Supervisor II, the incumbent will provide information technology services to computer users throughout the Department of Transportation (Caltrans), District 8 Offices in the San Bernardino and Riverside County areas. Configure, deploy, and maintain end-user devices Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and mobile applications Perform problem and incident management related to client technologies Install or repair hardware or peripheral equipment Test, maintain and deploy desktop images Conduct research and analysis of new client technologies and conduct end user training related to client technologies Update standards, procedures and controls to ensure proper installation, configuration, maintenance, security, reliability, and availability of systems and databases Monitor Mission Critical and/or large complex IT systems Track, monitor, and audit IT assets to maintain accountability using standard asset management tools and techniques in compliance with State Administrative Manual and other applicable policies Analyze, develop and document business processes utilizing industry best practices and standard methodologies Work cooperatively with Caltrans employees and teams, providing a high level of customer service Domains

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Information Technology Associate exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Position located at 464 W. 4th Street, San Bernardino, San Bernardino County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltranss evolving telework policy. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. The selected candidate will be expected to report to the headquartered location as needed. Business travel may be required. If not working remotely, the employee will work in a climate-controlled office with artificial lighting. Extended periods in a computer room (~70F) may be required. A State vehicle may be provided when available. Possession of a valid drivers license is required for operating a State vehicle. Reimbursement for travel may apply if using personal vehicle. Hours
