Matagorda County Hospital District Job Summary Matagorda Regional Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Information Technology department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the stability, integrity, and security of our core IT infrastructure, which is vital to our mission of providing exceptional patient care to the community. This role involves managing a hybrid environment of on-premise data centers and Microsoft cloud services. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Microsoft technologies, virtualization, and the critical importance of security and compliance within a healthcare setting. Full Time Main Hospital Campus in Bay City, Texas Responsibilities Deploy, manage, and maintain our on-premise and cloud-based Windows Server environment. Administer core Microsoft services including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and File/Print services. Manage our virtualization platform (VMware/Hyper-V), including creating, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines and hosts. Oversee the health and administration of our Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

Security & HIPAA Compliance

Implement and maintain security controls to protect patient data and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations. Perform regular system patching, vulnerability management, and security hardening across all infrastructure components. Manage data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to ensure clinical systems are always available.

Infrastructure & Network Support

Maintain physical data center hardware, including servers, storage area networks (SANs), and network equipment. Monitor system and network performance, ensuring high availability and reliability for all critical clinical and business applications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in a timely manner to minimize disruption to hospital operations. Automation & Process Improvement: Utilize PowerShell scripting to automate routine administrative tasks, streamline processes, and improve efficiency. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator, or similar role within a Windows-based environment. Expertise in administering Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and core services like Active Directory. Strong hands-on experience with virtualization platforms, primarily VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V. Proficiency managing Microsoft 365 and a foundational understanding of Microsoft Azure services (e.g., Azure AD, Azure Virtual Machines). Demonstrable skill in PowerShell for system administration and automation. Solid understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls).
