Overview

Northrop Grumman seeks a Manager Software Engineering 2 for the Sentinel program. This is a dual-hat role located in Roy, UT; Colorado Springs, CO; or Huntsville, AL, with both functional management and technical responsibilities on the program.

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: 25% of the time.

What You'll Get To Do

This position is a dual-hat role requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as technical responsibilities on the program. The functional management portion is expected to comprise approximately 20% of the time, with the technical role comprising approximately 80% of the time.

Responsibilities (Functional Management – ~20%)

  • Assess staffing needs, including current and projected requirements, and work with team leads to address those needs.
  • Support recruitment activities, including creating requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  • Partner with program leaders to establish personal, program, and functional goals; perform performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  • Provide subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, and, as necessary, discipline.
  • Generate training plans based on program and subordinates\' needs.

Responsibilities (Technical – ~80%)

  • Data visualization: make large datasets accessible to non-engineers.
  • Data transformation: collaborate with Data Scientists to develop software to interpret data relationships and ontologies.
  • Develop software for analytics tools used for analysis of complex statistical and machine learning models to build predictive and prescriptive strategies.
  • Interface with requirements and derive design from requirements in a model-based Systems Engineering environment; derive and allocate requirements into detailed design.
  • Design, develop, and test displays, controls, and functionality; design, develop, and test simulation software for data analysis; develop AI algorithms to enable data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain databases used to store complex data and data relationships.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Quality Engineers to ensure software requirements are met and develop Digital Transformation Dashboards and other software solutions.
  • Perform software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary range: Primary Level Salary Range: $135,100.00 - $224,000.00 . The range represents a general guideline; actual offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses where applicable. Long-Term Incentives may apply for certain VP/Director roles. The position typically follows a 9/80 work schedule (nine-hour days Monday-Thursday with every other Friday off). Relocation packages may be available.

Qualifications

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience, or 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Program Access within a period of time that meets current business needs.
  • 1 year of experience leading projects, driving performance against schedules, and interfacing with customers.
  • Experience developing semantic data ontologies.
  • Experience with statistics, including sampling techniques, survey design, and precision measures.
  • Experience with programming languages, statistical packages, and computer-based data systems.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
