About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing facility in Coldwater, Ohio. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and a proven track record of success in driving operational excellence within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with a passion for continuous improvement, a commitment to safety, and the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of plant operations, including extrusion, printing, and bag making in a blown film operation.
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term operational plans to achieve production targets, improve efficiency, and enhance profitability.
  • Oversee all aspects of plant safety, including the development and implementation of safety programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, environmental regulations, and quality standards.
  • Successfully plan, direct, and manage company assets and personnel in the execution of manufacturing tasks to fulfill customer orders.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning to plan and schedule the execution of specific production work orders to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Participate in the long-range planning of production capabilities and capacities in support of the companys strategic and business plans.
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets and capital expenditures.
  • Present weekly productivity, waste, OTIF, lead time, and FG inventory reporting to the COO.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of pertinent plant functions.
Production & Operations Management
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of the plant, including lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Optimize production schedules, equipment utilization, and material flow to maximize output and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production volume, equipment uptime, yield, and cost per unit.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations for labor and equipment utilization to ensure the positive attainment of production output and product cost goals.
  • Minimize finished goods inventories.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers, supervisors, technicians, and production associates.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that values teamwork, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Recruit, hire, and train qualified personnel to meet the needs of the business today and to meet the planned growth targets.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to employees.
  • Partner with Human Resources to complete personnel development plans and subsequent performance appraisals and merit reviews for all employees under management.
  • Participate in succession planning and conduct ongoing employee development activities to grow and mentor team members.
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure that all products meet or exceed customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the production process.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and environmental compliance processes in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Cost Control
  • Develop and manage the plant budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and vendors to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and address all safety incidents promptly and thoroughly.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the plant.
  • Ensure all employees are trained and proficient in the requirements of safety programs and policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business/Administration Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Plant Manager or in a senior operations management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, including Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Experience with extrusion, printing, and bag making preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
