Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Human Resources will serve as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and execution of the company's human capital initiatives. The Executive Director will lead all HR functions, including team member relations, talent acquisition, total rewards, payroll, leadership development, culture, and compliance. The role is instrumental in scaling the StrongMind family of companies and supporting a high-performance, mission-driven culture in alignment with the company's vision.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Culture Architecture
  • Partner closely with the Chief People Officer to align HR strategy with business vision and organizational growth
  • Champion StrongMind's values-driven culture across all touchpoints of the team member experience
  • Foster psychological safety, belonging, and wellbeing across our remote-first, distributed workforce
  • Serve as trusted advisor to C-suite leaders on organizational design, change management, and people strategy
Talent Strategy & Workforce Planning
  • Design and execute comprehensive talent acquisition strategies for executive and enterprise-wide roles
  • Build robust succession planning and leadership pipeline development programs
  • Create performance management systems that emphasize growth, feedback, and human-centered coaching
  • Develop workforce analytics and planning models to support strategic decision-making
Total Rewards & Wellbeing
  • Architect equitable, transparent total rewards philosophy that supports whole-person wellbeing
  • Oversee competitive compensation structures, comprehensive benefits, and wellness programs
  • Ensure pay equity practices and compliance with evolving labor regulations
Learning & Leadership Development
  • Launch transformative leadership development programs that grow internal capabilities and readiness
  • Design comprehensive onboarding experiences leveraging platforms like Trainual
  • Oversee compliance training, career development pathways, and continuous learning systems
Organizational Excellence & Risk Management
  • Oversee staff-related compliance with Arzona State Board for Charter Schools, including IVP fingerprint tracking, certification, and policy implementation
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws, safety regulations, and best practices across Arizona and remote locations
  • Develop crisis management protocols and workforce resilience strategies
  • Create and maintain clear, human-centered HR policies and procedures
Technology & Innovation
  • Select and optimize HRIS and talent technology stack, including AI-driven HR solutions
  • Use people analytics to inform data-driven decisions around hiring, engagement, and retention
  • Champion innovative AI tools and approaches that enhance team member experience and operational efficiency
Skills/Abilities and Expectations:

  • HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent)
  • Experience with multi-entity organizational structures
  • Familiarity with AI-driven HR tools and emerging workplace technologies
  • Track record of leading successful organizational change and culture transformation
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's/MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience with proven track record of scaling organizations
  • Experience in education, technology, or mission-driven environments strongly preferred
  • Deep expertise in remote-first or hybrid workforce strategies and culture development
  • Strong understanding of Arizona labor laws and multi-state compliance requirements
  • Executive presence with ability to influence and align C-suite stakeholders

  • This role operates in a professional office environment with standard equipment such as computers, phones, and printers

  • Must be able to work in a moderately quiet environment and manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Reliable internet access is required when working remotely
