Role

As Controller, you will lead the accounting function with full ownership of the general ledger, monthly close, and audit preparedness. You will not just report numbersyou will understand them, defend them, and help us drive better decisions across the business. This role requires an operator mindset: someone whos as comfortable deep in a reconciliation as they are presenting to executive leadership.

You will be responsible for building rigor, discipline, and transparency in all financial processes.

Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the monthly close process and deliver a fully reconciled, audit-ready trial balance within 10 business days
  • Maintain and enhance reconciliation processes for all balance sheet accounts, including prepaid purchases, customer deposits, inventory, accruals, and reserves
  • Lead the preparation of monthly flux analysis and ensure internal financials are accurate, complete, and understood
  • Oversee standard cost updates, inventory adjustments, and variance analysis
  • Ensure clean and supportable schedules for external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders
  • Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and accounting best practices across multiple business units
  • Actively participate in financial system improvements, ERP enhancements, and process automation
  • Take full ownership of the integrity and accuracy of the companys financial records
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or consumer products environment
  • Hands-on expertise with inventory, standard cost systems, and multi-entity accounting
  • Proven ability to lead a monthly close, produce full account reconciliations, and maintain audit-ready books
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (JDE experience is a plus)
  • Ownership mindset: you validate, test, and back up the numbersnot just inherit them
  • A bias for clarity, accountability, and speed
