As a Transportation Engineer at Milhouse, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of Phase I and Phase II roadway design plans for major clients including IDOT, the Illinois Tollway, Cook County, CDOT, and other local agencies. In this role, you'll apply your technical knowledge to complex infrastructure projects while coordinating with internal civil engineering teams and external sub-consultants. Youll also serve as a key point of contact with clients, building strong relationships and ensuring alignment on project goals and milestones. Perform design and engineering tasks for transportation projects including roadway geometry, drainage, traffic staging, and pavement design in compliance with IDOT standards Assist in the preparation of Phase I and Phase II project deliverables, such as project reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates Lead the roadway technical delivery of projects of varying complexity from concept development through final design Participate in working meetings during design development with internal teams as well as sub-consultant staff to ensure consistency, thoroughness, and quality of work product Analyze survey data, traffic data, and utility information to support project development Prepare technical documentation and contribute to internal and external project meetings Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection activities as needed Oversee, mentor, and review the work of junior staff Who you are
Strong technical skills in highway design and the ability to mentor staff and review work to ensure high quality standards Ability to work independently with minimal oversight Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prepare memorandums, letters, and reports Demonstrated leadership skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in the Milhouse family culture Your background
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of experience as a civil engineering design required 4-8 years of roadway design experience preferred Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.) License preferred Benefits
