North America is hiring a Rail Service and Operations Analyst to join the San Francisco team. The role is suited for someone with strong quantitative skills, attention to detail, and a passion for transit and rail. You will work with senior planners on service and operations planning projects, using industry-leading tools. Your work includes developing service concepts, analyzing operational scenarios, creating visual dashboards, and producing clear materials for client presentations. This is an opportunity to build technical expertise and contribute to projects that improve rail service and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
Support service and operations planning projects for passenger and freight rail clients. Develop and evaluate service concepts using Viriato (static timetable modeling) and validate scenarios with RailSys, Treno, RTC, etc. (dynamic simulation). Manage and interpret infrastructure data to assess capacity and asset performance. Prepare outputs in Tableau, including dashboards and charts for internal and client use. Organize project documentation and workflows in Notion to support collaborative, multi-office teams. Conduct quantitative analysis, ridership and operations modeling, and GIS-based mapping to inform decision-making. Draft technical reports, presentation materials, and client deliverables with a high standard of accuracy and clarity. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, transportation planning, data analytics, applied mathematics, or a related field. Demonstrated interest in rail or transit systems through coursework, research, internships, or professional experience. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis and visualization. Familiarity with tools such as Viriato, RTC, RailOscope, Tableau, Notion, ArcGIS/QGIS, Python, R, or SQL (training provided as needed). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment. Salary: We offer an annual gross salary between $80,000 and $90,000 USD for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
