Project Civil Engineer

We’re seeking a Project Civil Engineer with transportation design experience to lead roadway, highway, and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile transportation projects that improve mobility and strengthen communities. You’ll collaborate closely with DOTs, municipalities, and multidisciplinary teams while building your expertise and advancing your career.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and deliver transportation projects for state and local DOTs, from planning and design through construction
Lead the design of roadways, highways, intersections, and related infrastructure
Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates in accordance with MnDOT standards
Coordinate with DOT representatives, municipalities, and consultants to ensure compliance and secure approvals
Mentor and oversee junior engineers and CAD designers, providing technical guidance and quality control
Conduct site visits, support construction administration, and respond to RFIs during project execution
Stay current on DOT policies, design manuals, and industry standards to ensure technical excellence
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred; EITs on track to licensure will be considered
4–8 years of civil engineering experience
Experience working on DOT projects and familiarity with state DOT design standards, manuals, and permitting processes
Proficiency in Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, or OpenRoads
Strong understanding of roadway design, geometric design, traffic control, and
drainage/stormwater
