Paralegal Specialist
You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist in the Staff Advocate Judge Office of NVRECRUITNGCMD. Responsibilities include conducting or assisting with legal investigations, drafting policy documents and directives, reviewing investigative reports, drafting orders and other legal documents to effectuate disciplinary, administrative, or other corrective actions, communicating with courts, prosecution offices, and law enforcement agencies to request and obtain information regarding the status of prosecutions and cases, maintaining and managing a consolidated case tracker or case tracking system, identifying recurring or persistent vulnerabilities in protection of PII and sensitive personal information, recommending and implementing solutions and relevant training, and reviewing case files, identifying misconduct, and drafting appropriate charges and supporting nonjudicial punishment or administrative separation documents. Requirements include demonstrating at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying laws, rules and regulations involving litigation or litigation support, or administrative law to provide research or paralegal support; utilizing various laws, principles, concepts, and methods of legal research, to include automated legal research systems and legal reference sources to perform complex level research; performing legal research into legislative history, precedents, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to identifying and locating relevant facts and preparing analyses of findings; and applying rules and regulations related to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
