Overview The purpose of this role is to design, implement and deliver the Compliance Risk Assessment framework for the Americas region. This framework includes: a methodology to create the risk assessment with quantitative risk-based calculations; governance and processes to align with the Global Risk Assessment framework and industry/regulatory expectations; analysis and summary reporting; and action planning, remediation and monitoring related to the findings. The Risk Assessment framework must be embedded within the Conduct, Financial Crime, and Compliance Risk (CFCR) function and enable management to oversee and improve the control environment. It must meet regulatory and industry expectations and drive action throughout the US compliance function. The US Risk Assessment framework will supplement or supersede SC Compliance Risk Assessments where appropriate. This role also involves continuous assessment of issues raised within the Compliance Principal Risk Type that may introduce risk.

Strategy

Design the US Compliance Risk Assessment.

Support Group-led risk assessments across the Americas, where applicable.

Develop the SC US methodology to create the risk assessments, including quantitative risk-based calculations.

Business

Drive the delivery of action planning and remediation work resulting from regulatory requests.

Maintain awareness of significant changes impacting the business, and ensure appropriate actions to mitigate risk.

Governance and processes to ensure the US Risk Assessment framework meets industry/regulatory expectations.

Conduct analysis and create summary reporting from the methodology.

Oversee action planning, remediation and progress monitoring/reporting from the analysis and summary report.

Processes

Responsible for residual risk assessment of all entities in scope and linkage to residual risks and control weaknesses.

Delivery of the Compliance Risk Assessment.

Partner with colleagues across the bank to foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk identification and assessment.

People & Talent

Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.

Day-to-Day Tasks

Risk Management

Understand the risk and control environment in area of responsibility.

Continuously review data related to issues to identify themes and insights on existing or emerging Compliance risks.

Work with data and MI teams to assess metrics and ensure appropriate data capture to identify risks.

Engage with stakeholders to evaluate issue areas and gather underlying context for risk assessment.

Draft commentary related to metrics for inclusion in forums, senior-level committees and CCO reporting.

Governance

Understand regulatory framework and requirements applicable to the role.

Deliver effective governance, challenge executives when needed, and cooperate with local regulators as appropriate.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

Model exemplary conduct and adhere to the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.

Embed high standards of ethics and regulatory compliance across Standard Chartered Bank.

Lead the CFCC Risk Assessment Americas team to align with the Bank’s Conduct Principles.

Identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters collaboratively.

Deliver regulatory commitments to Federal Reserve, DFS and external monitors where applicable.

Our Ideal Candidate

Execute Compliance Governance, Frameworks and Models.

Knowledge of risk assessment compliance requirements and expectations.

Knowledge of BSA/AML, Sanctions, and ABC compliance requirements in Banking, with understanding of jurisdictional variations.

Recruitment Assessments Expected annual base pay range for the role is 225,000 USD to 350,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individual basis based on factors such as skill set, experience, education, internal relativity, and location. Base pay is part of total compensation, with discretionary variable pay and other benefits available.
