Assistant Program Director of Behavioral Health
to work on the
inpatient psychiatric units (54-bed Adult & Gero Psych Unit)
in the
Northpoint Medical Center , in
Northpoint, AL . The
Assistant Program Director
is responsible for assisting the Program Director in the maintenance of the Horizon Health/Client hospital contractual relationship(s) and, in coordination with the client, the overall administration of patient care for the Program. This position provides orientation to Horizon Health's business philosophy and operational policies and procedures. The Assistant Program Director will receive hands-on training in areas including marketing and referral development, clinical programming, customer relations and operations, with duties designed to prepare the employee for a future Program Director position. Clinical Program Directors work in close contact with patients who have moderate to severe psychiatric concerns and/or behavioral issues. There is a possibility of exposure to violent behavior as part of daily duties. Responsibilities: Performs as liaison between Program, Hospital and Horizon; communicates information and needs appropriately Supports Hospital and Horizon missions, goals and objectives Provides leadership and direction in accordance with Hospital guidelines Provides clinical supervision for Program nursing, counseling, patient support and administrative staff Develops, in coordination with assigned VP, Clinical Practice, implements and updates all policies and procedures for the Program Ensures the Program meets and maintains all federal, state, local and accrediting bodies’ regulations and standards in coordination with the Hospital Develops a 24-hour call process to handle emergency situations Defines the philosophy, goals and objectives of the treatment program under the direction of hospital administration, Horizon’s clinical and operations staff, and in conjunction with the Medical Director Works with divisional and national support staff to maximize value from Horizon services Understands client hospital’s expectations of Horizon and works to meet them Directs departmental staff in multidisciplinary teams to address process improvements Promotes positive, professional interaction with client hospital, senior management, peers and staff Collaborates with medical and clinical staff in coordinating and managing medical and psychosocial treatment plans Participates in assessing and reassessing program needs of the patient Supervises all patient care and sets guidelines for reporting and recording of patient symptoms, reactions, and progress Develops processes to audit and coordinate ongoing education to ensure staff are trained on proper documentation Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; protects operations by keeping information confidential Provides recommendations to ensure sufficient staff to meet patient care needs in line with regulatory requirements and staffing plans Operates within ethical standards Communicates and reviews Horizon and Hospital policies with staff Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and regulatory standards Assists in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints when needed, observing safety precautions (note: not applicable if the Program Director is the Community Education Director) Maintains continuity by documenting actions and needs to the Hospital, VPO and VP, Clinical Practice Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety standards Completes required staff competencies and maintains equipment operations Provides feedback to supervisor on concerns and improvements Maintains employee folders in compliance with Hospital, Horizon, state and Federal requirements Serves on assigned committees and attends required meetings Recruits, interviews, and selects qualified staff for the Program Promotes professional growth and development through planned training Monitors performance and conducts regular evaluations Develops and submits annual Quality Improvement Plan Counsels employees and takes disciplinary action as needed Collaborates with Medical Director in maintaining the program milieu Leads referral development to achieve appropriate census and adheres to productivity targets Manages Program budget development and monitoring Understands contractual relationships and aims to meet client hospital goals Implements quality improvement goals and timely actions Provides ongoing feedback to the client hospital Prepares and disseminates written reports and required follow up Completes operational tasks/documentation (census report, PIORS) as required by Horizon Ensures marketing reports are accurate and timely; uses Horizon Plus appropriately Collaborates with Horizon divisional and support center to conduct marketing research and develop program designs Collects data to provide input to customers to improve quality and productivity Follows CQI+ procedures when applicable This is a full-time position; hours/days subject to the Program’s 24/7 schedule.
