Overview

A Sr. Software Developer is a key resource for the Enterprise Systems management team and critical to the overall operations of the Company. This role is expected to write code, create versioning documentation, thoroughly test software, execute program updates, troubleshoot, audit and manage programming for an IBM iSeries enterprise environment that supports a B2B and B2C business model. The Senior Software Developer must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an IBM iSeries environment, including RPG, CL, DDS, and DB2. There must be acute attention to detail, consistent and clear documentation skills, clear communication skills, and strong analytical skills. This role requires a willingness and ability to do both programming and analysis for a multi-location distribution and warehousing environment. The Senior Software Developer is also expected to mentor and teach subordinate staff, with self-directed continuous education to refresh skills and knowledge required. Responsibilities Use iSeries programming languages RPG, CL, DDS, and DB2. Implement computer system upgrades. Design, create, test, and implement computer programs. Write documentation for computer programming. Evaluate computer system user requests. Monitor and maintain an iSeries environment. Revise or correct errors in computer software or systems. Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow charts and diagrams, and apply knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic. Perform and direct revision, repair, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt to new requirements. Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as tracking inventory, storing and retrieving data, or controlling other equipment. Provide technical support to Help Desk and Analysts for problem troubleshooting and resolution. Provide on-call/after-hours support.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

A 4-year Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering REQUIRED. Other technical qualifications along with equivalent work experience will also be considered. A minimum of 5 years Programming experience with RPG, CL, DDS, and DB2 languages REQUIRED. A minimum of 5 years experience in programming for a warehouse/distribution environment STRONGLY PREFERRED. An acute level of attention to detail and documentation. Ability to work independently while contributing to team projects and deadlines. Clear understanding of software version control, document version control and test database protocols. Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate across all levels of the company and end-user customers. Ability to compose or create product and training/SOP documentation.
