The Data Retrieval, Engineering, Architecture, and Management (DREAM) Group at Draper is seeking a Digital Engineering Data Solutions Architect to develop next generation Relational Cross Domain Data Digital Engineering Architecture for domains such as: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. Our multi-disciplinary teams innovate and develop solutions for full system development lifecycle in areas of importance for national security. Draper has adopted an integrated, model-driven digital mindset in solving Systems Engineering problems spanning the entire lifecycle. From early-lifecycle conceptual system design and architecture, detailed modeling, model-driven customer reviews, verification and validation, integration and testing, to deployment, surveillance and performance monitoring, Draper has a suite of Digital Engineering solution needs across our projects. This role works as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the development of digital capabilities like digital twins and digital threads, closely collaborating with experienced engineers to learn and apply best practices. It provides a foundation for growing expertise in data architecture, systems engineering, and advanced computing, with opportunities to contribute to innovative solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are highly valued. The ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders is a must. Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities will be required. Continuous learning and professional growth are encouraged. Duties/Responsibilities

Independently execute system engineering lifecycle assignments. Adapt to changes in program priorities and requirements. Adhere to existing best practices and Quality Management System processes. Continue to expand depth/knowledge in their technical discipline through formal and informal learning. Work within multi-disciplinary teams and independently execute assignments. Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction. Lead small teams (fewer than five people) and align team toward program goals. Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes; apply analysis techniques across a range of technical challenges. Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies. Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills/Abilities

Highly organized, with a system-level perspective. Strong oral and written communication skills. Practical experience with simulation-based performance analysis. Practical experience with the systems engineering process. Proficiency with modeling and simulation, computer languages, descriptive modeling (e.g. SysML), STPA, and/or other engineering analysis tools. Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber/security, communications/encryption, threat modeling, or related technologies as defined in the summary. Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field. Master’s degree or higher preferred. Experience

5-10 years of experience as systems engineer or related role. Additional Job Description

Desired qualifications include: Experience with architecture frameworks and certifications is a plus Experience in technical leadership Experience with React Java libraries, Kotlin, Python 2-4 years in Digital Engineering using sound Systems Engineering principles Experience in data visualization and storyboarding Thorough knowledge/proven experience as a DBA Experience in architecture and development of Digital Twin and Digital Thread Experience integrating diverse data sources and transactions Functional experience with Java Knowledge of team software development (sprints, git, code reviews, pair programming) Support integration and management of diverse data sources across project areas Proven ability to architect databases and upgrade/improve schema Knowledge of open source databases (PostgreSQL a must) Thorough knowledge/proven experience as a Database Administrator Ability to create, analyze, and present technical data, software and models to support system analysis and decision-making Learn to communicate technical concepts effectively to stakeholders at all levels Experience with various data types, states, frequency, and volume Interest in interdisciplinary work spanning Systems Engineering, Machine Learning, Database Administration and Data Science Job Location
