The DREAM Group at Draper is seeking a Digital Engineering Data Solutions Architect to develop next generation Relational Cross Domain Data Digital Engineering Architecture for domains such as strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. Our multi-disciplinary teams innovate and develop solutions for full system development lifecycle in areas of importance for national security. Draper has adopted an integrated, model-driven digital mindset in solving Systems Engineering problems spanning the entire lifecycle. From early-lifecycle conceptual system design and architecture, detailed modeling, model-driven customer reviews, verification and validation, integration and testing, to deployment, surveillance and performance monitoring, Draper has a suite of Digital Engineering solution needs across our projects. Our thinking spans the entire gamut, from “as-designed” to “as-deployed” lifecycle phases in supporting uncompromised delivery of solutions. For this role, the ideal candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary team and will support the development of digital capabilities like digital twins and digital threads, working closely with experienced engineers to learn and apply best practices. This role provides a foundation for growing expertise in data architecture, systems engineering, and advanced computing, with opportunities to contribute to innovative solutions. Communications and interpersonal skills are highly valued; the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with customers, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders is essential. Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to evolving priorities will be required. We value continuous learning and professional growth. Duties / Responsibilities

Independently execute system engineering lifecycle assignments. Adapt to changes in program priorities and requirements. Adhere to existing best practices and Quality Management System processes. Continue to expand depth/knowledge in their technical discipline through formal and informal learning. Work within multi-disciplinary teams and independently execute assignments. Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction. Lead small teams (fewer than five people) and align the team toward program goals. Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes, and apply analysis techniques across a range of technical challenges. Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies. Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide constructive feedback. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills / Abilities

Highly organized with a system-level perspective. Strong oral and written communication skills. Practical experience with simulation-based performance analysis. Practical experience with the systems engineering process. Experience with modeling and simulation, computer language coding, descriptive modeling (e.g. SysML), STPA, and/or other engineering analysis tools. Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber/security, communications/encryption, threat modeling or related technologies as defined in the summary. Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field. Masters degree or higher preferred. Experience

5-10 years of experience as systems engineer or related role. Additional Job Description

Prior experience in architectures frameworks; certifications are a plus. Prior experience in technical leadership. Experience with React, Java libraries, Kotlin, Python. 2-4 years of experience in Digital Engineering using sound Systems Engineering principles. Experience in data visualization and storyboard creation. Thorough knowledge/proven experience as a DBA. Prior experience in architecture and development of Digital twins and threads. Experience in integrating various data sources and transactions. Functional experience with Java. Knowledge/experience with team software development (sprints, git, code reviews, pair programming). Support the integration and management of diverse data sources across project areas. Proven ability to architect databases and upgrade/improve schemas. Knowledge of open source databases (Postgres a must). Thorough knowledge/proven experience as a Database Administrator. Assist in creating, analyzing, and presenting technical data, software and models to support system analysis, performance assessments, and decision-making. Learn to communicate technical concepts effectively to stakeholders at all levels. Experience with various types of data, data states, frequency, and volume. Knowledge and interest in interdisciplinary work spanning Systems Engineering, Machine Learning, Database Administration and Data Science. Job Location

Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139-3563 Compensation

Base salary range: $82,300.00 - $205,750.00 per year. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Union ranges will be in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement's approved rates by location and role.
