Were looking for a Backend Engineer with strong FinTech Payments experience to join our early team. Youll be a key contributor in building the core infrastructure powering payroll, payments, and compliance automation. This is a rare opportunity to join an early-stage, high-growth startup, work directly with the founding team, and have an outsized impact on the product and company trajectory. Location:
New York (Hybrid, 4 Days work from office) What You'll Do Build performant, reliable, and fault-tolerant systems capable of processing billions of dollars globally from the ground up Help us scale 10x in the next year Have ownership as we redesign our tech stack Collaborate directly with the CTO and CEO
Requirements for this role: 1-6 Years or Back-end engineering experience with strong technical fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, databases, APIs). Proven experience in fintech/payments, such as ACH, card networks, payroll, compliance, or tax infrastructure. Demonstrated track record of building and shipping fintech/payments products should be able to detail your contributions. Strong backend expertise, with the flexibility to work full-stack when needed. Experience integrating with payments, payroll, or tax APIs and building secure, reliable financial systems. Comfortable with AI tools and able to leverage them in daily development. Prior experience in a high-growth startup (or strong entrepreneurial drive). Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments scrappy, hungry, and execution-focused. Familiarity with compliance-heavy systems (KYC/AML, tax filings, regulatory frameworks). Exposure to management or mentorship responsibilities. Familiarity with compliance-heavy systems (KYC/AML, tax filings, regulatory frameworks). Hands-on experience with modern backend stacks (Go, Python, Node.js, Java, Postgres, cloud infrastructure).
